Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for playing Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. She has also starred in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. As the sole daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a housewife, Delaney had a family of four brothers. The idea of being a reporter for the court in the early years of her life, however she began modelling at high school, eventually earning commercials following her move into New York. Her first appearance as an actor came as a young girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney, a young actress in the 80s, has been featured in a variety of TV films as well as dramas. While she has a career success, her personal one is not as happy and prosperous. The gifted actress was struggling to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fall apart. The year 2005 was the time she was denied custody of the sole child she was born with.
